...Are the words our Remarkable Rhinos used to describe the mix of images displayed for them on the board.
Using the past few weeks of provocations, they were able to successfully unlock the central idea,
'Maps have evolved over time enabling us to orient ourselves locally and globally'
for our current unit, 'Where we are in Place & Time'.
The Grade Fours examined the images and decided which ones they felt did not constitute as being classified as a map and much to their surprise only two of the pictures were indeed not a map.
This allowed for many burning questions to arise, which gave us the opportunity to identify the difference between 'thin & thick' questions that will be used and inquired into for the rest of our unit

During Mathematics, we've been having fun figuring out the area and perimeter of land that needs a fence & a swimming pool, a swimming pool that needs a cover for the winter, and our Grade 4 classroom that needs an expensive Persian carpet for... the fun of it!
