Unit 3 How the World Works

"O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum,Wie treu sind deine Blätter!"
What a delightful chilly morning! Our 'fireplace' was lit, and the children gathered around the DSKI Christmas Tree for our cherished annual lighting tradition. We enjoyed some musical performances and lovely songs before receiving the exquisitely hand-crafted advent calendars.
A heartfelt THANK YOU to our Advent Calendar parents for creating these wonderful calendars, and to the PTA Christmas team and parents for transforming the school into a festive Christmas haven.

Fueling Growth and Improvement
We are developing our critical thinking and communication skills by engaging in peer feedback. Our Grade 4s reviewed one another's inquiry slideshow presentations and benefitted from a different perspective and constructive criticism, this helped them to gauge whether the information they had gathered for their slideshow does make sense and whether it is appropriate for their audience.
Our students are active in their learning and authentically using these feedback strategies on their own accord, showing us that they are making a deeper connection to the content itself.

Iniesta Soccer Academy
This week we also had the privilege of being visited by our neighbouring soccer academy, Iniesta, who hosted an exciting soccer practice session for us! From dribbling techniques to passing accuracy, we all had the chance to improve while enjoying the camaraderie of classmates. This practice session provided a fun break from our usual routine, and it also instilled a love for sports and physical activity.
Thank you, Coaches!

EcoFingerprints
Let's be honest 'Sharing the Planet' is never really finished, and rightfully so!
It was such an honour to have a lesson on ecosystems, their food webs, and the necessity to look after nature. At the end of the day we strive for balance, and to help make eco-friendly changes, and what better way to start than in our very own school community!

We hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Unit 2 Finishing off Sharing the Planet

Beginning of Festivities
The holiday season is near, and what better way to celebrate than by adding our very own personal touch to the DSKI Christmas tree downstairs.
Our Remarkable Rhinos were thrifty when creating their unique Christmas tree ornaments, not only are their handmade ornaments creative, but they all contribute a unique charm to the festive decor.

Woodwork in Art
An exciting lesson for Grade 4 as they tried out the woodwork equipment during art class. It was an enriching experience that broadened their artistic abilities — now we wait and see what incredible creations will come from this activity!

Role play in English
The Grade 4s stepped into the shoes of 'Ant and the Grasshopper', they used the powerful tool of roleplay to help them capture the essence of character expression, enhance their vocabulary usage, and foster their prediction skills.

Peer Review - You help me, I help You
For the past few weeks the Remarkable Rhinos have been working on slideshow presentations and creative story writing, and this week we took a moment to pause and review one another's progress.
This pause allows us to create an environment that fosters collaboration, motivation, and support. It helps them to develop their critical thinking skills, diversify their perspectives, and promote personal growth.
It is also the perfect opportunity for them to appreciate the strengths in their fellow classmates’ work while providing constructive feedback.

Whizz of the Week
Once again, the 'Fun Mathematics Challenge' trophy has made itself at home in our Grade 4 classroom. We are super proud of our new champion this week, WELL DONE!

Have a fantastic weekend!
